Yuka Honda is a composer, keyboardist, and producer who has long been a vital presence in New York's downtown and experimental music worlds. Born in Tokyo in 1960 and raised across Japan, Germany, and Denmark before settling in New York in 1986, she co-founded the genre-blurring band Cibo Matto with Miho Hatori in the 1990s, pioneering a live sample-triggering approach. As a player and producer she has collaborated with a sweeping range of artists, among them Sean Lennon, the Beastie Boys, Nels Cline, Marc Ribot, and Medeski Martin and Wood, and produced records for Yoko Ono and others. Her own music, released under the name eucademix, explores a personal, sensory electronic language. At The Stone she performs alongside fellow electronic improvisers such as Ikue Mori and Brian Chase.
