Tony Mason

Tony Mason is a New York drummer whose versatility across jazz, blues, and roots music has made him an in-demand sideman on the city's scene. He grew up in Southern Pines, North Carolina, and began playing drums at age seven before studying at East Carolina University and then completing a degree in classical percussion at the Manhattan School of Music, which brought him to New York in 1986. He has toured and recorded with a wide range of artists including John Scofield, Charlie Hunter, Norah Jones, Joan Osborne, Amy Helm, and Bernie Worrell. A longtime collaborator of the guitarist and singer Chris Bergson, Mason appears on the Chris Bergson Band's 2016 album Bitter Midnight. He also works as a sub drummer for the Broadway production of Hadestown.
