Tim Lin

Tim Lin is a Taiwanese-American tenor saxophonist based in New York City whose sound is rooted in the bebop tradition. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he received a scholarship to study with Bob Sheppard at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, and counts Bob Mintzer, Larry Schneider, and Jerry Bergonzi among his mentors. He made his recording debut in 2022 with the standards album Romance in Formosa, produced by Sheppard, and followed it with Empathy (2023), Birdwatching (2024), and Heartfelt (2025). In New York he leads his own quartet with pianists including Jeb Patton and David Kikoski and drummers such as Billy Drummond, working in a fluid, bop-informed style across the full range of the horn.
