Samuel Lerner

Samuel Lerner is a Paris-born jazz pianist and composer based in New York, steeped in the bebop and swing piano tradition of Art Tatum, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, and Elmo Hope. He began playing at age five, encouraged by a father who passed on a love of jazz and European classical music. In 2012 he made his first trip to New York and recorded his debut album, Zomb(i)ebop, with drummer Leroy Williams and bassist Tal Ronen for the French label Black and Blue, following it in 2018 with Fall's Start on the New York label Gut String Records. He later settled in New York, where he also teaches privately.
