Sacha Perry

Sacha Perry is a New York jazz pianist rooted in the bebop and hard bop tradition, carrying forward the harmonic language of Bud Powell, Elmo Hope, Thelonious Monk, and Herbie Nichols. A protege of Barry Harris and Frank Hewitt, he became a fixture of the Smalls Jazz Club scene, where his albums for the club's Smalls Records label include Eretics (2005), Not Brand X (2007), and Third Time Around. His playing is prized among fellow musicians for its command of the most subtle and difficult bebop harmony. Born May 1, 1970, in Brooklyn, he has been active on the New York scene since the late 1980s.
