Rodolfo Zanetti

Rodolfo Zanetti is an Argentine bandoneonist based in New York, where his playing bridges traditional tango and the tango-jazz of the city's Latin scene. He holds the bandoneon chair in Emilio Solla's La Inestable de Brooklyn, and in 2018 he played on Pedro Giraudo's Vigor Tanguero, which won the Latin Grammy for Best Tango Album. In 2003 he directed Piazzolla and Ferrer's Maria de Buenos Aires under the auspices of the Astor Piazzolla Foundation, and in 2009 he founded the traditional tango trio El Despunte Tango Club. He took first prize as a bandoneonist at the 2017 Che Bandoneon International Competition, awarded by the Argentine Tango Society at the Stowe Tango Music Festival in Vermont. Zanetti studied bandoneon with Jorge Puebla Hilario and Alberto Iribarne and piano at the Facultad de Artes of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Mendoza, and has appeared as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center.
