Robin Eubanks

Robin Eubanks is one of the leading jazz trombonists of his generation, an inventive slide player and composer voted the number one trombonist by both Down Beat and JazzTimes. Born in 1955 in Philadelphia into a musical family that also produced his brothers, guitarist Kevin Eubanks and trumpeter Duane Eubanks, he emerged on the New York scene in the early 1980s and worked with Slide Hampton, Sun Ra, and Stevie Wonder. He spent some fifteen years as a mainstay of bassist Dave Holland's quintet, sextet, octet, and big band, among the most acclaimed groups in modern jazz. Eubanks is also known for his electronics-inflected approach to the instrument, and he taught for two decades as a tenured professor of jazz trombone and composition at the Oberlin Conservatory.
