Patrick Bartley Jr

Patrick Bartley Jr. is an alto saxophonist, composer, and bandleader based in New York City, best known as the founder of the J-MUSIC Ensemble, a group that reinterprets modern Japanese pop, anime, and video game music through the language of jazz. Born in 1993 in Hollywood, Florida, he grew up steeped in Japanese art and sound while learning the saxophone, and went on to study at the Manhattan School of Music. As an in-demand sideman he has performed and recorded with Louis Hayes, Jon Batiste, Mulgrew Miller, Jeff Coffin, and Wynton Marsalis. He reached wide audiences through the "Live from Emmet's Place" video sessions, and his playing pairs an expressive, vocal-like tone with a range that spans bebop, funk, and R&B.
