Ojiik

Ojiik

Ojiik is a saxophonist based in New York, a Seoul native who plays both alto and tenor. His alto voice draws on the tradition of Jackie McLean and James Spaulding through Kenny Garrett, while his writing reflects the compositional language of Joe Henderson. In 2025 he released his debut album Tetrasphere on his own OJIIKMUSIIK label, leading a quartet of pianist Davis Whitfield, bassist James Robbins, and drummer Adam Arruda through a set of original acoustic jazz in a New York vein. He is a regular presence on the city's scene, including at Bushwick's Ornithology Jazz Club.
