Nicoletta Manzini

Nicoletta Manzini is an Italian-born alto saxophonist, composer, and educator based in New York City. Born in 1966 near Modena, she earned a diploma in classical saxophone in Italy before turning to jazz, drawing lasting inspiration from pianist Barry Harris and studying and recording with saxophonist Steve Grossman. Early in her career she was mentored by Francis Paudras, the French jazz patron known for his friendship with Bud Powell. Rooted in the bebop tradition, she performs at Smalls Jazz Club and leads her own quartet, often working alongside bassist Tyler Mitchell.
