Leonieke Scheuble

Leonieke Scheuble plays both Hammond B-3 organ and piano, dividing her work between soul-jazz organ trios and straight-ahead piano settings around New York and New Jersey. Born in 2002, she came to the music through the Ray Charles biopic Ray, began studying with pianist Steve Ash at age seven, and went on to study with Barry Harris and Mike LeDonne. Organists Joey DeFrancesco and Dr. Lonnie Smith both took an early hand in her development, Smith going so far as to send her a Hammond organ when she was ten. She recorded her first album, Debut, at Rudy Van Gelder's New Jersey studio with drummer Jimmy Cobb, releasing it in 2014, and followed it with Live in the Studio in 2016. Since 2015 she has co-led the Generations of Jazz Trio with bassist Bill Crow and her father, drummer Nick Scheuble.
