Lawrence Fields

Lawrence Fields is a St. Louis-born jazz pianist known for pairing a lightning technique with a warm, personal sound that blends vintage ideals and a contemporary sensibility. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he placed near the top of the keyboardist category in DownBeat's Rising Stars critics poll across several years. He is a central voice in saxophonist Joe Lovano and trumpeter Dave Douglas' Sound Prints, and has held piano chairs in bands led by Jeff Tain Watts, Nicholas Payton, Jaleel Shaw, and the Grammy-nominated group of Chief Adjuah. Fields released his debut album To the Surface in 2024, featuring his trio and solo playing, and his work also appears on Sound Prints: Live at Monterey Jazz Festival for Blue Note Records.
