Kenny Wollesen

Kenny Wollesen is a drummer and percussionist who became one of the defining rhythmic voices of New York's downtown scene. He is a founding member of Steven Bernstein's Sexmob, formed in 1996 alongside saxophonist Briggan Krauss and bassist Tony Scherr, and a longtime collaborator of John Zorn across many of the composer's projects. Born in 1966 and raised in Capitola, California, he came up playing with saxophonist Donny McCaslin before making his name in New York. He has recorded and toured widely with Bill Frisell, Tom Waits, Norah Jones, John Lurie, and Sean Lennon, and founded Wollesonic Laboratories, a home for his hand-built instruments, Himalayas marching band, and sonic massage projects.
