Karrin Allyson

Karrin Allyson is one of the most acclaimed American jazz vocalists of her generation, a five-time Grammy nominee for Best Jazz Vocal Album whose warm, swinging phrasing and multilingual repertoire have earned decades of critical praise. Born in 1963 in Great Bend, Kansas and raised in a musical family, she is also an accomplished pianist who frequently accompanies herself. She recorded her debut, I Didn't Know About You, in 1992, and its 1993 reissue on Concord Jazz began a long association with the label. Her Grammy-nominated albums include Ballads: Remembering John Coltrane (2001), Imagina: Songs of Brasil (2008), and Many a New Day: Karrin Allyson Sings Rodgers and Hammerstein (2015). She is equally at home with the American songbook, bebop, and Brazilian material, delivering lyrics in English, Portuguese, and French.
