Justin Robinson

Justin Robinson is an American jazz alto saxophonist with one of the most distinctive sounds on his instrument, marked by an aggressive, vocal attack in the lineage of Jackie McLean. Born in 1968 in Manhattan and a graduate of LaGuardia High School, he emerged in the late 1980s with the Harper Brothers and Betty Carter's band, and released his debut album, Justin Time, on Verve in 1991. He became a longtime member of trumpeter Roy Hargrove's quintet and big band, and has also worked with Abbey Lincoln, Jimmy Scott, and the Dizzy Gillespie All Star Band. He continues to lead his own quartet on the New York scene.
