June Cavlan

Vocalist June Cavlan is among the brightest of the young straight-ahead jazz singers in New York, an interpreter with poise, swing, and a clear love of the tradition. Raised in Soquel, California, she immersed herself early in jazz singing and won a full scholarship to the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, where she was named DownBeat's best undergraduate jazz vocalist in 2022. She moved to New York in 2023 to continue at the Manhattan School of Music and quickly found her footing, collaborating with peers such as Emmet Cohen and Benny Benack III. Her debut album, A Portrait of June, arrived on the New York label La Reserve Records. She leads her own trio and quartet at clubs including the Django and Mezzrow, drawing on models from Ella Fitzgerald to Shirley Horn.
