Jon Elbaz

Jon Elbaz is a jazz pianist and composer based in New York City, whose playing recalls the great pianists of the past with swing, poignancy, and virtuosic control. Born in 1995 in New Jersey, he began piano at age eight and turned to jazz at fourteen, studying with Aaron Weiman and Jeremy Manasia before attending the New England Conservatory from 2013 to 2017, where his teachers included Frank Carlberg, Jason Moran, and Joe Morris. He settled in New York in 2017 and became a fixture on the scene, headlining a weekly night at Smalls and working widely as a sideman. His discography spans several quartet albums of original compositions, a solo piano record, and two collaborative trio releases with David Zakarian and Samuel Ber.
