Jeremy Dutton

Jeremy Dutton is a Houston-born drummer and composer based in New York, known as the rhythmic engine behind a run of acclaimed Blue Note records, among them vibraphonist Joel Ross's Kingmaker and Who Are You? and pianist James Francies's Flight and Purest Form. A graduate of Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and The New School in New York, he has worked as a sideman with Vijay Iyer, Gerald Clayton, Chris Potter, Immanuel Wilkins, Melissa Aldana, and Maria Grand. In 2023 he released his debut album as a leader, Anyone Is Better Than Here, co-produced with fellow Houston drummer Kendrick Scott and featuring Ross, Francies, and saxophonist Ben Wendel. The record traces a coming-of-age story about self-acceptance, marking his arrival as a composer and bandleader after years of in-demand sideman work. He was named one of DownBeat's 25 for the Future in 2024.
