Jed Levy

Tenor saxophonist Jed Levy is a longtime fixture of the New York jazz scene, a modern master prized for his commanding sound and his original writing. Over a career spanning four decades he has led bands at Birdland, Smalls, the Blue Note, and the Django, and toured Europe, Japan, and Latin America, including a State Department tour with his quartet for Jazz at Lincoln Center. His resume reflects a rare versatility, from a long association with pianist Jaki Byard to organ-combo tours with Jack McDuff and Don Patterson and work with the Cab Calloway and Chico O'Farrill orchestras.
