Jacob Artved

Jacob Artved is a Danish guitarist working out of New York, with a sound rooted in bebop and swing and shaped by Charlie Parker, Wes Montgomery and Sonny Rollins. Veteran guitarist Jacob Fischer brought him onto the Copenhagen scene at 15, and he was admitted to conservatory there as its youngest student before leaving to move to New York at 18 and learn the music on late-night jam sessions. He released his debut album Wax Up! in 2017, and Live at Jazzhus Montmartre, recorded over three sold-out nights with drummer Louis Hayes during the 2019 Copenhagen Jazz Festival, followed on Storyville Records. Metamorphosis (Stunt Records, 2022) set jazz arrangements of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Debussy and Ravel alongside his brother Max Artved on oboe. He received the Rødovre Music Prize in 2021.
