Evan Pazner

Evan Pazner is a New York City drummer whose playing moves between straight-ahead jazz, soul, funk and hip hop. A lifelong New Yorker, he was working club gigs by the age of 14 with the funk-rock band Soul Sauce, then studied at NYU before entering The New School's Jazz and Contemporary Music Program, where his teachers included Jimmy Cobb and Billy Hart. He spent years on the road as the touring drummer for Lee Fields & The Expressions, the old-school soul group, and has also worked on Broadway as a sub drummer for Cirque du Soleil's Paramour. His feel for breakbeats led to a library of original drum breaks released by Industrial Strength Records. Alongside performing he keeps an active private teaching schedule and has served on the faculty of the National Guitar Workshop.
