David Sneider

David Sneider is a New York trumpeter, composer, and arranger working in the hard bop tradition, with a sound that draws on Lee Morgan, Donald Byrd, and Freddie Hubbard. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School and took first place at the 2019 National Trumpet Competition and the 2021 Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition. The son of trumpeter John Sneider and an opera singer, he grew up immersed in the New York jazz scene and has worked as a sideman with Dom Salvador, Ulysses Owens, and Larry Goldings. In 2023 he and his father co-led the two-trumpet album Sneid Remarks, and in 2025 he released his debut as a leader, Introducing, recorded at Van Gelder Studios for Cellar Music. He leads his own quintet on the New York club circuit and is also active as a producer and teacher.
