Daniel Sadownick

Daniel Sadownick is a percussionist raised in the Bronx who built a wide-ranging session career in New York, moving fluidly between jazz, pop, and studio work. He earned a master's degree in music education from New York University and studied privately with Andrew Cyrille, John Amira, and Frankie Malabe before touring for two years with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra. His congas, bongos, and bata anchor recordings and tours with Michael Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Nat Adderley, and George Coleman, and he is a longtime member of the funk band Screaming Headless Torsos. As a leader he released the album There Will Be a Day in 2008, which earned a SESAC award for its play on jazz radio. He also serves on the faculty of New York University.
