Bruce Acosta

Bruce Acosta is a New York guitarist working in the mainstream guitar tradition, drawing on the American Songbook and on the example of Wes Montgomery, Grant Green and Jim Hall. Born in Dubai and raised in Canada, Australia and Minnesota, he spent his early years on the instrument playing Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin before turning to jazz in high school, when he was selected for the Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony and the Minnesota All-State Jazz Band. He moved to New York in 2018 and studied guitar there with Paul Bollenback, Ed Cherry, James Chirillo and Doug Wamble, and arranging with Don Sickler. Much of his work is as a sideman, with New York appearances at the Blue Note, Dizzy's Club, Cafe Bohemia, the Museum of Modern Art and the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, plus recording sessions at Van Gelder Studio and Sear Sound. He has also worked with Second Floor Music, developing the Guitar Corner for its jazzleadsheets.com catalog.
