Bennett Paster

Pianist and keyboardist Bennett Paster is one of New York's most versatile musicians, a player and composer drawn to the meeting point of beauty and groove. Raised in Albuquerque and rooted in Brooklyn, he found his musical home early at the Stanford Jazz Workshop, where he still returns to teach, and went on to a career spanning jazz, soul, and Brazilian music on piano, organ, and electric keyboards. He has released a string of albums as a leader, among them Indivisible and Radiance, both exploring the jazz piano trio with a strong rhythmic focus. As a sideman and collaborator he has worked with Wallace Roney, Kurt Elling, Peter Erskine, and Albert Tootie Heath, and he runs Benny's Wash and Dry, a Brooklyn recording studio. He leads his trio regularly at rooms like Mezzrow.
