Antoine Drye

Antoine Drye is a New York City trumpeter whose long-running Oblation series has framed much of his work as a leader, beginning with the 2003 album of the same name. In October 2023 he extended the series with Retreat To Beauty (Oblation, Vol. 3: Providence!) on Cellar Music Group, a program of standards and originals scored for strings by orchestrator Isaac Raz with an ensemble of more than twenty musicians. He studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts, then took a bachelor's degree at the University of New Orleans and a master's at the Aaron Copland School of Music, and counts Ellis Marsalis and Harold Battiste among his mentors. A session player as well as a bandleader, he works across genres and has fronted a quartet with guitarist Mark Whitfield, bassist Mike Noordzy and drummer Donald Edwards.
