Anna Webber

Anna Webber is a Canadian saxophonist, flutist, and composer based in Brooklyn whose music lives in the overlap between avant-garde jazz and new classical writing. Originally from British Columbia, she studied at McGill, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Jazz Institut Berlin, where she worked with drummer John Hollenbeck. She leads several groups, among them her Simple Trio with Hollenbeck and pianist Matt Mitchell and the Webber/Morris Big Band, whose 2020 debut Both Are True landed on the New York Times best of the year list. A Guggenheim Fellow and Herb Alpert awardee, she has topped both the tenor saxophone and flute Rising Star categories in the DownBeat Critics Poll and teaches at the New England Conservatory and the New School.
