Alex LoRe

Alex LoRe is an alto saxophonist and composer who has become one of the most called players on the New York scene. The New York Times has described him as a musician making the connections among about 70 years worth of contemplative, articulate and light toned players, a lineage he came to through mentors Lee Konitz, George Garzone, and Bunky Green. He leads the quartet Weirdear, whose albums for Whirlwind Recordings include Evening Will Find Itself (2023) with pianist Glenn Zaleski, bassist Desmond White, and drummer Allan Mednard. As a sideman he is a longtime member of the Marta Sanchez Quintet, whose Partenika (2015) and El Rayo de Luz (2019) both landed on The New York Times year-end best albums lists.
