Aaron Johnson

Aaron Johnson is a New York City alto saxophonist, clarinetist, and flutist rooted in the bebop tradition of Charlie Parker. He leads the ensemble Boplicity, a bebop-centered group with a regular presence at Smalls Jazz Club, and works widely as a freelance jazz player and commercial woodwind doubler. Johnson has performed alongside a broad range of musicians including Jon Batiste, Dick Hyman, Chuck Israels, Ken Peplowski, Connie Crothers, and Slide Hampton. Beyond the alto he plays across the saxophone family as well as clarinet and flute, covering the range of acoustic jazz styles.
